The Washington Wizards played great against the Atlanta Hawks, but not great enough. The Hawks got the best of the Wizards in the end, and they will be the team moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Wizards lost game 6 by a score of 94-91 after a Paul Pierce three was waved off because he didn’t get it off in time. The shot would have sent the game to overtime, but instead of going to overtime it gave the Hawks a 4-2 series victory over the Wizards.
After the game, the Wizards players weren’t too happy. Bradley Beal spoke of his unhappiness, and the Wizards Twitter page reports him saying,
“It’s frustrating, it’s depressing, it’s sad, every synonym of sad, but we can’t fault our heart because we laid it all on the line.”
Beal is definitely right. The Wizards gave everything they had to give against the Hawks, and they fought their hearts out. Sadly, they lost to the Hawks in the end, and their season is over.
Bradley Beal played amazing throughout the series, playing 41.8 minutes per game, and averaging 25 PPG, 5 RPG, 5 APG, and 1.7 SPG. He also played great defensively, as he chased around the Hawks’ sharpshooter Kyle Korver the whole series, and he never gave him any daylight to get a shot off. Korver shot just 28% from three during the series, showing just how good the defense that Beal played was.
The Wizards had a great season, and they will surely be able to build off of it for next season. Next season will be fun for a young Wizards team, and it should be even better than this year.
