The Washington Wizards could have had players in 3 events during All-Star weekend. John Wall in the Skills Challenge and All-Star game and Bradley Beal in the Three-point Shootout. Unfortunately, Bradley Beal turned down the offer when he received one.
I feel like if I’m going to be part of the weekend, I want to be an All-Star
This is a common belief amongst NBA players, or maybe just an easy excuse to get the weekend off. Deandre Jordan famously said he would not join the Slam Dunk Contest unless an All-Star. He delivered on that promise this season when named an All-Star and a Slam Dunk participant. It is no surprise if Bradley Beal is looking for a little rest. His extensive injury history has caused him to miss quite a few games, and with the Wizards currently on a hot streak, I doubt he wants to miss time now.
Everything is good. I want to just rest and use the break to my advantage,” Beal said. “All-Star is hectic running all over the place. I just want to relax my body. It’s precautionary. I’m might go out of town, probably go home (to St. Louis) to see my family.”
In his short career, Bradley Beal has already missed 85 games. With All-Star weekend serving two purposes; as a fun weekend for fans and a much-needed rest for players. Maybe he could take advantage of Deandre Jordan’s delivered promise by stealing his Hawaiin vacation.
