Even though there has been a lot of changes for the Wizards bench this offseason, Bradley Beal and the rest of the team’s core remains intact. Now, Kelly Oubre has been added to that core and should be along for the ride in Washington for a long time as long as he continues to progress.
There’s a lot to like about Oubre, and Beal sees a lot of positives in his game that are going to help the Wizards win games.

“I watched one summer league game. I love his aggression, he’s real long and athletic,” he said of Oubre, who has a 7-2 wingspan on his 6-7 frame. “It’s something that’s going to help us out a lot. Him and Otto are really going to be competing. Kelly needs to work on a few things. I love his mentality, his approach to the game. People say he’s a little arrogant, a little cocky. We love to have that little swagger about him.”
The most important part about having a guy like Oubre on the roster he will push and compete every second with guys ahead of him in the rotation to ensure he doesn’t get buried at the end of the bench. He’s gonna give Otto Porter everything he can to take minutes away and compete for a starting job.
Beal already loves Oubre, and fans in the nation’s capital are about to see why.
