David Ayer’s Fury WWII drama earned over $1.2 million from 2,489 locations on Thursday night – ahead of it’s official release date.
The film stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Michael Pena and centers around a U.S. tank crew traveling though Germany at the end of WWII.
It is believed that Fury will top the box office this weekend earning over $25 million and beating out Gone Girl for the No. 1 spot.
Also opening this weekend is animated film The Book of Life, which earned $300,000 on Thursday night
Inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, the film stars the voices of Channing Tatum, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, Hector Elizondo, Diego Luna and Zoe Saldana.
The weekend’s third new offering is romance drama The Best of Me, based on a Nicholas Sparks book. The film kicked off the weekend with $525,000 on Thursday night with showtimes starting at 8 p.m.
