‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2’ came in the top spot at the box office this week by taking in an estimated $34 million. The animated sequel which features the voices of Bill Hader and Anna Farris, has received positive reviews from critics for its humor and production.
‘Prisoners’ takes the silver medal this week by bringing in $10.9 million. The movie might have some legs due to the strong performance from its lead cast and thrilling premise.The film has brought in $39 million in its two-week release.
Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’ parked its self in the third place position by generating in $10 million in ticket sales. The film depicts a famed rivalry between racing legends James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
Two comedies round out the top five this week. ‘Baggage Claim’ was able to get $9.03 million while ‘Don Jon’ brought in $8.6 million.
‘Cloudy’ will have to fight to stay at the top because the highly acclaimed sci-fi thriller ‘Gravity’ will land into theaters on Friday.
