The animated film ‘Frozen’ cooled off ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ just enough for it to take the top spot at the box office this weekend.
‘Frozen’ took in $31.6 million and takes number one in its second week. It brings its total gross to $134 million.
‘Catching Fire’ slips to the silver medal position by raking in another $27 million. The film brings its global total to $673 million and has nearly grossed as much as ‘The Hunger Games’ did in its entire box office run.
The only new comer this week ‘Out of the Furnace‘ starring Christian Bale fell into third place with $$5.3 million. The film cost $27 million to produce. Traditionally the weekend after Thanksgiving is the slowest week at the box office so next week the film might fare better.
Marvel’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’ is holding on in fourth place by bringing in $4.7 million. It brings its total to $194 million.
Next week ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ looks to claim the top spot for itself when it hits theaters on Friday.
