Though Boris Diaw has turned into somewhat of a journeyman here in the latter stages of his career, his impact is undeniable. Diaw played a key role off the bench alongside Manu Ginobili in multiple championship runs for the San Antonio Spurs.
His ability to stretch the floor and accurately find open teammates from the power forward position is a rare trait that more and more teams have tried to duplicate in the modern NBA.
Last year, Diaw suited up in 73 games for the Utah Jazz, starting 33 of them as they advanced to the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs. After just one season with the club, the French big man has been an unrestricted free agent throughout this offseason but still hasn’t found his future home.
According to Christophe Remise of Le Figaro, Diaw could also be looking at another option for the upcoming season and that is returning home and playing the season overseas in Europe:
“I won’t close any door” the French forward told Le Figaro. “I will be in the NBA next season? I don’t have a club yet. I have a few contacts with teams but nothing concrete. So I am not sure I will be in the NBA 100% next season. A return to Europe? It may happen” Diaw added.
Though climbing up there in age and now 35 years old, Boris Diaw still brings plenty to the table that NBA teams covet. He indicated that he’s had preliminary conversations with teams but no deal is in the works as of now. If Diaw doesn’t ink a contract with any NBA team in the near future, expect an overseas departure to be a real option for the 15-year veteran.
