Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic suffered a minor knee injury while playing for the Serbian national team and will have arthroscopic surgery, according to the Kings’ official press release.
The Serbian Bogdanovic experienced left knee discomfort early in the first quarter, according to the press release. An MRI after the game, a big victory for the Serbs over Estonia, showed a minor injury. A procedure for Bogdanovic is scheduled for next Monday and the Kings did not offer a timetable for his return. Next Monday is also media day for the Kings, with training camp opening Thursday.
Bogdanovic had surgery this past April for a partially torn meniscus in the same knee. That makes two surgeries in half a year, certainly a troubling series of events. The recovery for the meniscus was regarded as 8-10 weeks, so theoretically this new minor procedure should not be as long.
The 26-year-old Bogdanovic averaged 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game last season while making the All-Rookie team. He also won MVP in the Rising Stars Game over NBA All-Star weekend, as Team World beat Team USA.
