Even though this may seem like bad news, in retrospect it could bring some sigh of relief for Bobby Shmurda and his family. In his murder conspiracy case which was chalked with several charges for himself and his GS9 crew there was this “what if” looming. Bobby Shmurda could have potentially served life in prison for his conviction in December of 2014.
There has been several attempts by his legal team to post bail but he has been denied on several accounts. While continuing to be jailed on Rikers, the scenario looked to be bad one considering two members were sentenced to over 50 years for their involvements in their charges.
It has now been reported by the New York Daily News that in court, Bobby Shmurda has decided to cop a plea deal which could see him face up to 7 years in jail. This seems to be the best option with the bail denials and the fear of a jury who may find him guilty. Being found guilty would result to life.
Rapper Bobby Shmurda pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges Friday and will be heading behind bars for seven years.
Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, took the deal just days before he was set to stand trial for conspiracy in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Prosecutors had maintained the “Shmoney Dance” phenom was the “driving force” behind a street crew called called GS9 that was responsible for dealing drugs and several shootings in Brooklyn.
After the fixed seven year term, Shmurda, 22, will be on probation for five years, according to the terms of the plea agreement worked out with the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s office.
Since the arrest and no bail I was a firm believer that he would eventually get time served. But with 7 years looking to be on the table, one has to wonder will his almost 2 years be deducted off his sentence?
