It may be hard to believe, but this month will mark the fifth anniversary of Bobby Shmurda’s
“Hot N*gga” video release. In the time since his unfortunate incarceration, Hip-Hop has seen a number of artists come and go. Still, Bobby Shmurda has remained relevant in today’s Hip-Hop climate despite not being able to put out much new music. With an expected release in 2020, Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel will look to make major comebacks in the near future. Ahead of his expected release in 2020, Bobby hopped on the phone with DJ Vlad to discuss how he’s dealing with incarceration, his expected release and his friend, Rowdy Rebel.
Throughout the interview, the Brooklyn native remains extremely animated and lively just as he was before he went in. As for his current sentence, Bobby says, “I’m always going to be happy. These mothaf*ckas they never gon’ kill my spirit, you know how this sh*t goes. You know, I’ve been through some sh*t before.” Bobby later adds, “Our spirits is high.”
Later in the interview, DJ Vlad asks about reports that he took more time in exchange for a shorter sentence for Rowdy Rebel. Bobby responded, “They offered a little more time, so they could cut the time off of his sh*t and that was it. Nothing else to talk about.”
As mentioned earlier, Bobby and Rowdy are expected to be released in 2020. In the meantime, watch the full interview above.
