It’s hard to believe, but next summer will mark the fifth anniversary of Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N*gga”. The video went on to amass millions of views before Bobby went on to release singles “Bobby B*tch” and “Computers”. With the world waiting on his every move, it seemed as if nothing could stop the New York star. Unfortunately, things quickly went south for the rising rapper.
Months after becoming a household name, Bobby and his crew were hit with a number of charges for violent crimes and drug trafficking. Tragically, members of Bobby’s inner circle were hit with life sentences that would tear the crew from their rise to success. Bobby would ultimately go down along with his crew. He and Rowdy Rebel were sentenced to seven years and six to seven years respectively.
In the weeks, months and years since his conviction, much of the Hip-Hop community has backed the New York rapper and called for his release. While it seems unlikely that Bobby will get any time knocked off of his sentence due to public pressure, there may be good news for fans of the young rapper.
Earlier today, Bobby’s mother, Leslie Pollard, let fans know that her son would be home sooner rather than later. Pollard told followers on Instagram that her son would be home in just over two years. She wrote, “One of those mornings, but the time is ticking 25 months he will be here soon.” If true, Bobby will be home in 2020 right before Thanksgiving. Best wishes to Bobby and his family as they get through this tough time.
