After a Hall Of Fame coaching career which tallied up a total of 902 wins and 3 D1 National Championships. Bob Knight never left the game. He’s been a College Basketball analyst with ESPN since 2008, with a little color commentating now and again.
After 7 years of being in the ESPN family. The network has announced that Knight will leave ESPN.
Thursday night’s NIT final between Stanford and Miami was his last appearance for the network.
“We thank Bob for his contributions to ESPN’s coverage over the last seven seasons and wish him luck in his future endeavors,” said John Wildhack, ESPN executive vice president of production and programming. “Coach Knight has left an indelible mark on the game of college basketball and he will be remembered as one of the truly great coaches and innovators the game has seen.“
ESPN are never short on analysts. Perks of being “The Worldwide Leader”. As for Knight. He’ll never be too far from the game. I just find it a shame ESPN diminished his role as the years went by. It’s hard to replace the experience that Knight has. Championships as a player and coach. 900+ wins for crying out loud! But as I said. He will never be too far from the College Basketball scene.
