Jason Blum is one of the smartest producers working in Hollywood today. Not only does he produce some of the most thought-provoking work being made today, he also has a budgetary philosophy that makes it very hard for his films not to become massively profitable. Which is very hard to find in Hollywood today.
Every filmmaker seemingly needs a massive budget to make the most standard looking film you can imagine. For god’s sake, they spent $69 million on ‘Daddy’s Home 2’! Meanwhile, ‘Get Out’, which looked thoroughly cinematic was made for around $4.5 million. This was made possible by the strict adherence to the philosophy provided by Jason Blum and the work of a dedicated filmmaker like Jordan Peele.
However, not every film has to be of the quality of ‘Get Out’ in order for Mr. Blum’s theory to be proven right. Every year he puts out mid-level quality horror films that play to the genres rabid fan base and the most recent example of this is the upcoming ‘Truth or Dare’. The film centers around a simple premise about what if ‘Truth or Dare’; became a life or death game. Short, simple and to the point. The film looks to be bread and butter horror that wheres some of the genres most known cliches proudly on its sleeve.
We’ve attached the official trailer and synopsis for ‘Truth or Dare’ below.
‘Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) lead the cast of Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller from Blumhouse Productions (Happy Death Day, Get Out, Split).
