
It has been an insane four week run for Dev Hynes, better known as Blood Orange. On July 19th, the British musician shared a snippet of a new song off of his album, Negro Swan. Later that day, he confirmed that he had new music on the way. In the weeks that followed, the British sensation performed new music from the album at the Pitchfork Festival and hit the road for his current tour. Tonight, the time has come to put all the snippets and promotion to bed and listen to the music.
British musician, Blood Orange, has released his new sixteen track album called Negro Swan. The fifty minute project includes features A$AP Rocky, Project Pat, Janet Mock and more. The project also has a strong focus on mental health within the Black community. In a press release leading up to album, Blood Orange explained that the album is “an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color.” He also added, “The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of hope, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.” Stream Blood Orange’s Negro Swan in its entirety above.
