It’s no secret that Super Bowl LVII has become much bigger than four quarters of football. Hour after hour, the world’s biggest companies pump millions of dollars into ads. Meanwhile, global pop stars prepare for major performances and movie studios share the trailers for the year’s most anticipated films. In fact, Paramount, Sony and a few other studios have already shared trailers for Fast X, Scream VI and 65. While a lot of attention will be paid toward major movie studios and streaming platforms, it’s important to remember how it all got started. That’s right, Blockbuster is back, baby!
The last Blockbuster left in the United States has put together an ad for the biggest night in advertising. No, the last remaining store in Bend, Oregon won’t be purchasing a $7 million ad on FOX. Instead, the Bend, Oregon store will debut its cinematic masterpiece on Instagram.
“Something big is happening,” the store wrote in a recent Instagram post.
“Is the world coming to an end or is Blockbuster releasing its first commercial in a really, really long time? Yes. See you on 2/12.”
There may be a few major movie trailer premieres on Sunday, but nothing will quite match up to the charm of the lone remaining Blockbuster. Check out the commercial’s teaser below before the big game kicks off in Glendale, Arizona.
