The Portland Trail Blazers have been this season’s Cinderella story. Gutted before the season even starts. Left with Damian Lillard and a team of role players.
But head coach Terry Stotts has worked some grade A miracles this season. He got them to the Playoffs, somewhere none of us saw Portland in and has allowed Damian Lillard to go full “Dirty Dame”. The Portland Trail Blazers owe this man a contract extension, something he hasn’t got yet. The Blazers players are ready to make a case for their coach.
“He’s believed in us from Day 1,” Ed Davis said. “And obviously we believe in him.”
“He’s got a good feel for the game, in terms of matchups,” Henderson said of Stotts. “He really just knows our team well, knows what group of guys go out there and play the best. Out of any coach I’ve had, he lets the game determine a lot what he does. It’s worked well for him.”
“He’s got our trust,” Lillard said. “I think all season long, he’s counted on so many guys, he’s shown his faith in so many guys, and everybody on this team is behind him 100 percent.“
I agree with all that. Even Steve Kerr, the man that topped him in the Coach of the Year voting, thinks he should get an extension.
Neil Olshey, you better be forming those signing papers as we speak.
