The NBA has decided to suspend Joel Freeland of the Portland Trail Blazers and Shawne Williams of the Detroit Pistons. The 2 bench players got into it last night after they exchanged words late in last nights Blazers win over the Pistons.

The 2 players aren’t crazy important to either team. The one that might be more impactful is probably the ‘British Bulldog’, Joel Freeland on the Blazers, who currently sit third in the Western Conference. Williams has played only 7 games for the Pistons, averaging 2.7 points per game, playing 7.9 minutes per game. Freeland has played 34 games this season for the Blazers, averaging 3.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, shooting 46.5 percent from the field while playing 12.6 minutes per game.
I’m sure both teams will survive without both players. It is nice to see, especially for the Blazers, that there are some guys who aren’t afraid to get a little physical to provide a boost to their team.
