The Portland Trail Blazers talked a whole lot while the fate of LaMarcus Aldridge was in the balance. And what was funny was that they were so conflicted with themselves. Some Blazers representatives were saying he’s staying, some were giving into the fact that he’s probably gone.
Blazers head coach Terry Stotts did not talk about Aldridge at all during the offseason, which was a good move, don’t want to be his ex-assistant coach right? But now that Aldridge is gone, Stotts has finally thrown in his two cents.
“I knew it was going to be a close decision — it wasn’t an easy decision for him and it came down to the last minute,” Stotts said. “I certainly respect his decision and it was a difficult one. And personally I thanked him for the three years I was here with him. He earned the right to be a free agent and we’re certainly going to miss him. But we move on.”
That’s a very safe way of talking about it, very professional way of talking about it but what do you expect? There’s no point going ape about it now, the deal is done, time to move on and become a contender again.
