The world may still may be fixated on BLXST’s timeless breakout project, No Love Lost, but he’s been working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, he was selected to be a part of the 2021 XXL Freshman Class, earned nominations at the Soul Train Music Awards and BET Hip-Hop Awards and toured the continent. Not to mention, he appeared on the Grammy-nominated album, King’s Disease 2. With the new year on the way, the California native is gearing up to take over yet again.
This Friday, BLXST has returned with a solo release called “About You.” The upbeat track is soulful and addictive in a way that his breakout hit, “Overrated,” was.
“I need you to be about we/If you put a limit on your love then count me/Girl, I know my selfish ways be OD/But I just express in ways you don’t see, yeah, yeah/And you should know that I’m about you,” he sings.
“If this ain’t the way to love then show me how to/’Cause I’m not afraid of breakin’ no rules/I say what I say, I don’t say it to sound cool.”
Just in time for the holiday season, check out this early gift from one of the west coast’s brightest young stars, BLXST.
