The newest edition of Jaws is here, and it takes place off the coast of Australia. A few weeks back, the first teaser for the film was released (watch it here!), only showing Blake Lively’s character stranded on a rock, injured from a shark attack:
“In the taut thriller The Shallows, when Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on a secluded beach, she finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy’s ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude” (Sony Pictures Entertainment, via IMDb).
From this new trailer we learn a bit more about the beautiful protagonist, who sought out the fateful location from the guidance of her recently deceased mother. In addition, it seems that Nancy isn’t the only victim of the shark attack; she helplessly watches as the creature destroys two people who aren’t as lucky as her. Finally, the trailer promises some stunning visuals. After all, cinematography is made simple when filming at such a gorgeous location. Be sure to watch the newest trailer below!
The Shallows is directed by Jaume Collett-Serra off a script written by Anthony Jaswinski, and also stars Óscar Jaenada and Brett Cullen. Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem have produced the film, with the production companies Columbia Pictures, Ombra Films, and Weimaraner Republic Pictures. Columbia has US distribution rights. See the film in select theatres on June 29.
