Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin has himself in some hot water after he suffered an injury while already being injured.
Blake was on his was back from a quad injury that sidelined him since Christmas but now a new injury has surfaced. An injury that has nothing to do with the basketball court.
According to Michael Eaves of ESPN, Blake and a member of the Clippers equipment staff were sent home from their current road trip after they were involved in an altercation after a dinner in Toronto.
USA Today’s Sam Amick adds more detail the incident.
According to the people, Griffin and equipment manager Matias Testi argued at the restaurant before the altercation ensued. Testi, who has been close friends with Griffin for years and routinely banters back and forth with the five-time All-Star, was sent back to Los Angeles along with Griffin following the incident. And Griffin, who has been out since Dec. 26 with a torn quadriceps and was nearing his return, now finds himself at the center of what is clearly a serious situation. The NBA and the Clippers are investigating the matter to gain more clarity about the sequence of events.
Blake’s hand was broken in the incident and now he’s slated to miss 4-6 weeks with his hand injury, according to Dan Woike of the Orange County Register.
This is just one of many incidents over the last year that Blake has his name attached to.
Last year, in a Clippers blowout win over the Brooklyn Nets, the All-Star forward did a lude act while on the bench to a member of the Clippers staff. It’s unclear if the act was against Testi. Griffin was also charged with battery last year but the charges were dropped.
