Blake Griffin has injured the same knee that delayed the start of his NBA career during a Team USA scrimmage earlier today. Griffin has left the Olympic preparation practice in Las Vegas to return to Los Angeles and have Clippers doctors take a look at the knee, the All-Star forward is expected to undergo an MRI exam on Thursday but he will likely be withdrawing from Team USA’s game against the Dominican Republic on Friday, and possibly the Olympics as well.
Anthony Davis, the number one draft pick of the New Orleans Hornets, is one of six alternates for the team and is expected to be in dress uniform for the game against DR despite his own injury concerns.
Griffin only just signed a five-year, $95 million extension with Los Angeles on Wednesday and does not want to jeopardize his long-term future with the organization.
