Marvel and Ryan Coogler are set to begin filming Black Panther 2 in Atlanta this summer. The film was originally set to begin filming in March, but was delayed following the sudden death of Chadwick Boseman. It is unclear what role the late actor will play in the upcoming film. Thus far, the movie studio has stated that no one will replace Boseman, but additional reports suggest that CGI may be used instead.
“There’s only one Chadwick, and he’s not with us,” executive producer Victoria Alonso said.
“Our king, unfortunately, has died in real life, not just in fiction, and we are taking a little time to see how we return to the story and what we do to honor this chapter of what has happened to us that was so unexpected, so painful, so terrible, in reality.”
Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira and many other members of the original cast are set to return for the sequel. Tenoch Huerta of Narcos: Mexico is reportedly in talks to join the star-studded cast the film’s antagonist.
Black Panther 2 is expected to hit theaters in May 2022.
