The Kentucky Wildcats are not in the NCAA Tournament this year, so that means the spotlight on their roster’s draft decisions is coming a little earlier this year. Standout freshman BJ Boston has officially declared for the 2021 NBA Draft. He will not return to the Wildcats for a second season despite his slip in 2021 Mock Drafts over the year. There were some lottery talks for the freshman, but that is highly unlikely now. The first round is not out of the question.
Terrence Clarke, BJ Boston, Olivier Sarr and Cam Fletcher (transfer) are all gone. Isaiah Jackson testing the waters but likely gone.
All those are expected. But if Kentucky holds onto everyone else and nails 1-2 more additions, think the Cats are back to good/very good.

John Calipari has made it clear that the Kentucky Wildcat’s program is built to get players to the NBA. Boston and his teammates declaring this year join a long line of players that Calipari has helped make the NBA. Boston showed flashes this year of why he could make some noise in the NBA but wasn’t able to put it all together. The freshman averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He only shot 30 percent from three and 35 percent overall from the field to pair with his other numbers.
The Kentucky Wildcats did not win a lot of games this year which is highly unusual for the program. Boston and his teammates just couldn’t seem to maintain a rhythm this year. The Wildcats did not make the 2021 NCAA Tournament, but next year should be better for the team. Boston will shift his focus to starting his next chapter and beginning his NBA career. There will be several teams that give him a look in the first round.
