There are some teams and people I just hate writing about because they can never seem to get with the program and continue to harbour bad habits. The Brooklyn Nets and Billy King are two perfect examples.
The “reassignment” of Billy King is five years too late, and the fact that they didn’t put “fired” makes me want to type so many expletives. Does somebody in that organisation have a life debt to King? I don’t know why they won’t just simply say “Kick rocks”. But no they have to make it complicated by labeling it as “reassignment”.
Oh and it seems that’s not the end of it people! Now they got King apparently advising the Nets on who they should have as his successor! Talk about dumb leading the blind! (H/t to colleague Rob Lopez for the joke)
The arrangement is unorthodox, especially considering King was pushed out of the job by owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
Under King, the Nets have surrendered seven first-round draft picks – including five of their own – and 11 second-rounders to chase short-term success, severely limiting the franchise’s options to rebuild over the next few years.
Wojnarowski is being cute saying it’s an unorthodox arrangement. This is straight up stupid, there is no reason for King to be associated with the Brooklyn Nets anymore. WHY PERSIST!? This is like kicking out your roommate but letting him live rent free until you find a new roommate.
This whole thing just stinks and I’m washing my hands straight after I publish this.
UPDATE as of 11:46am ET, 11th January 2016
Today was Mikhail Prokhorov’s first press conference since the “reassignment” of Billy King and the firing of Lionel Hollins. Our very own Robert Lopez was in attendance for the conference and he recently tweeted quotes about King’s future.

Prokhorov on Billy King’s role in finding a new GM: “He can send me any ideas as a friend, but that’s not his job.” #Nets

Didn’t realise business had space for your bro’s input. This is just Prokhorov noticing that he knows nothing about basketball business and has no friends other than the guy he just “reassigned”.
