The Tyrod Taylor situation with the Buffalo Bills has been an odd one. After he left the Baltimore Ravens and joined the Bills in 2015, his contract situation has been in flux in part due to him surpassing a snap limit clause in 2016. His salary number was slated to jump up from $2.6 million to $12 million in 2017 increasing to $14.5 million by 2021, and on March 11th, he would’ve had a bonus of $27.5 million come his way. A new deal had to be worked out for the Bills to save some money.
His new contract was dependent on a club option this offseason and it he will be retained by the Bills but under a new deal.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the deal, and the Bills also made the announcement official.

“We are excited about the opportunity to keep Tyrod with the Bills. I’ve gotten a chance to know Tyrod and study him over the past several weeks and he is both a great person and competitor. Doug and I are confident this was best move for the Bills at this time.”
In 2016, Taylor threw for 3,023 yards on a 61.7 completion percentage with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions, and he added 469 yards rushing with six touchdowns on the ground. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 quarterback out of 36 qualifying quarterbacks.
