The Buffalo Bills were prepared to lose offensive lineman Richie Incognito to free agency, so much so they already had a contingency plan in place to go after Jahri Evans this spring.
Well, they do not have to worry about that anymore as Incognito has signed on to remain in Buffalo for three more seasons. After getting all but kicked out of the NFL two years ago, it appears the lineman will end his career in Buffalo.
Following from Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News.
The Buffalo Bills have reached a three-year contract agreement with left guard Richie Incognito, locking up one driving force behind the NFL’s No. 1-ranked rushing attack.
Incognito’s deal is worth $15,750,000 over three years, a source said.
The guard could have tested his worth on the open market, but chose to stick with the team that took a chance on him exactly one year ago. So now, he hopes to write the final chapter of his turbulent NFL career — one that saw him exiled the entire 2014 season — in Western New York with a team he believes will compete.
“To be in a place like Buffalo where the fans are so into it,” Incognito said last week in Arizona, “they’re so hungry for a winner and so hungry to make the playoffs, that’s special. When you’re tired and you’re beat down and you’re searching for motivation, there’s certainly a lot of motivation in that.”
Incognito confirmed the news on his twitter account.
