Yet another change has been made to Beyoncé’s latest studio album, Renaissance. Hours after committing to altering the lyrics of “Heated,” the Houston native has seemingly removed the highly-controversial sample of Kelis’s “Get Along With You” from “Energy” featuring BEAM. Unlike the changes made to “Heated,” Beyoncé nor her team have not formally announced the changes made to “Energy,” but fans have notice that certain elements of the song have been made on TIDAL.
“Not ‘Energy’ on my Tidal only playing background vocals at the end,” one fan commented.
“Yoooo. What did they do to ‘ENERGY’ on TIDAL?” another fan questioned.
Shortly after fans began to notice the changes made to the track, Rap Alert and HipHop-N-More reported that similar changes would be made on Spotify, Apple Music and other major streaming platforms.
“Beyoncé removes the interpolation of Kelis’ ‘Milkshake’ from her track ‘ENERGY’ on her new album. It has been removed on TIDAL and should be removed from all streaming platforms shortly,” Rap Alert reports.
Alterations have been made to “Energy” after Kelis voiced her frustrations with the use of two of her songs on the track, “Get Along With You” and “Milkshake.” Shortly before Renaissance dropped, Kelis took to Instagram and alleged that the tracks were used without her permission. While voicing her frustrations, she expressed that she was more upset with Pharrell and Chad Hugo because she feels that she was not given proper ownership or credit for “Milkshake” and “Get Along With You” when they were originally released.
“My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding,” Kelis said.
“Chad really is like an amoeba. He’s spineless. It’s a miracle he can keep his neck up, but Pharrell knows better.”
Kelis has not yet commented on the removal of the samples from Renaissance.
