Beyonce and Jay-Z sent the internet into a frenzy when they dropped the music video for their Everything is Love record, “Apeshit.” Filmed in the historic Paris, France museum the Louvre, the world’s largest art museum; the video for “Apeshit” featured the Carters performing alongside iconic art pieces such as Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” and Jacques-Louis David’s “The Coronation of Napoleon.”
According to the Louvre, the museum received a record-breaking 10.2 million visitors in 2018, a 25% increase since 2017. The landmark reports, “no other museum in the world has ever equaled this figure.”
The Louvre credits Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “Apeshit” for the museum’s large boost in visitors.
“Elsewhere in the world, interest in the Louvre was bolstered by the Louvre Abu Dhabi (which recently celebrated its first anniversary), and by Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s “Apes**t” video, with its tribute to some of the museum’s greatest artworks.”
The museum also saw an increase in foreign visitors from various countries including, the United States, China, Spain, Germany, Italy, the U.K., and Brazil.
