The greatest wide receiver in the history of the Detroit Lions recently announced his retirement and it immediately made two things possible. Calvin Johnson’s retirement pushed Golden Tate to the top target for Matthew Stafford for next season and it also made the Lions immediately in the running for a receiver to replace some of Megatron’s production.
Exit Megatron and insert Marvin Jones. It might not be a big, splashy name but he does put up solid numbers.

The #Lions are getting WR Marvin Jones, source said, for what is expected to be about $8M per year (as @diannaESPN said).

After missing all of 2014 due to injury, Jones recorded 65 catches for 816 yards and four touchdowns in 2015. The 6-foot-2 receiver has a good combination of all the necessary wide receiver intangibles. He has obvious size, downfield speed, route running and run-after-the-catch ability, all assets that can work perfectly lining up with Stafford under center and alongside Golden Tate.
