So we are nearing closer to the 2016 NBA Draft and as the days continue to wind down, most potential NBA players are working hard to get into shape and impress as many teams as they can in the process.
But there’s somebody that hasn’t and will continue to not work out for any team before the Draft. Presumptive no.1 pick Ben Simmons.
Unless something changes, the 76ers won’t work out out Ben Simmons during the NBA predraft process – at least not at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
“It’s not a red flag,” Sixers president of basketball operation Bryan Colangelo said. “Everybody deals with the draft process differently. Sometimes agents are involved. Sometimes families are involved in those decisions. Again, everything we get in respect to our intel that it relates to Ben, is he would very much like to be selected No. 1.”
The Sixers are still trying to get Simmons in for a workout. The Australia native is represented by Klutch Sports Group, which is based in Cleveland. Simmons has been training there throughout the pre-draft process. The team hasn’t ruled out going to Ohio to meet with Simmons and watch him work out.
Now you may find this weird but believe it or not the Sixers didn’t work out Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor or Joel Embiid. Apparently they like going in off tape alone and not seeing them in person.
I don’t see why you wouldn’t workout to be honest, you play to your best and if you do so, you impress the right people. Now the only possible loss is if you have a bad workout but if you have the mind of the athlete, you are always ready to get the job done.
