On Saturday, April 22, 2023, fans will be packed into T-Mobile Arena as Gervonta “Tank” Davis stands toe-to-toe with Ryan Garcia at the center of the ring. Before Garcia and Davis make their way to the ring, a number of champions and contenders will keep fans entertained. Floyd Schofield Jr., Lorenzon Simpson and Jalil Hackett will headline the non-televised portion of tonight’s festivities. Shortly thereafter, unbeaten super middleweight David Morrell Jr. will headline the undercard. Along the way, fans will have an opportunity to see the emerging super middleweight contender Bektemir Melikuziev.
Olympic silver medalist Bektemir Melikuziev has an impressive record of 11-1 with nine knockouts. On Saturday night, he will have the opportunity to avenge the lone knockout loss of his pro career. In June 2021, veteran Gabriel Rosado caught Melikuziev and put him on the ground for the first time in his career. Since then, the Olympic medalist has won four consecutive fights and will look to make it five straight wins on Saturday.
“This is the fight I’ve been asking for. It’s on the same card as the biggest fight of the year and it’s a dream come true. I am ready,” Melikuziev said.
“The loss to Rosado is what happens when you get reckless in boxing. I got reckless and paid for it. I went for the finish. This is why we are having the rematch. I am confident that I will right the wrong.”
In the opposite corner, Rosado believes that he will come away with the win.
“I am taking this as a challenge,” Rosdao countered.
“I am taking it personally that he thought the first fight was a fluke. It upset me. That’s my motivation. I did it once and will do it again.”
