Becky Hammon made history a couple of years ago when she was hired by the NBA as the first ever women assistant coach or coach in general in history. According to Jeff McDonald, the Spurs will allow Hammon to take control of the future development of their summer league roster.
Non-free agency update: Becky Hammon will coach Spurs’ Summer Leaguers in Vegas. Will Hardy will coach Spurs in Salt Lake.

With Hammon in charge, the Spurs are making a serious investment to develop the former WNBA player into an NBA head coach. Will Gregg Popovich create another great coach like he has with Steve Kerr and Mike Budenholzer? Will Becky Hammon rule the NBA coaching world one day? We’ll never know, but she definitely started in the right spot.
