Prince Amukamara was selected with the 19th overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2011 NFL draft. After spending five years and winning a super bowl with the Giants, Amukamara spent one year in Jacksonville with the Jaguars before spending last season with the Bears. Amukamara has had injury problems in the past, missing 25 games in his first five seasons. He has been healthier since leaving New York as he’s played in 14 games each of the past two seasons.
Amukamara is coming off back-to-back seasons in which he has had to prove himself, playing on one year contracts. He has not intercepted a pass since the 2015 season, but Amukamara has proven himself in the eyes of the Bear’s front office and he will not have to find a new home this offseason. Chicago’s front office was very active Tuesday as they also agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson.
