2015 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge MVP Andrew Wiggins will be returning to defend his crown as he headlines the roster for ‘World’ team in the 2016 Rising Stars Challenge. Wiggins will be joined by Minnesota Timberwolves teammates Zach LaVine and Karl-Anthony Towns in the game.
The trio from Minnesota will be joined by other young stars like D’Angelo Russell from the Los Angeles Lakers, Jabari Parker from the Milwaukee Bucks, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor from the Philadelphia 76ers, Emmanuel Mudiay from the Denver Nuggets and of course, New York Knicks young star, Kristaps Porzingis
Here is the full rosters for the game.
Last year, the Team USA versus Team World format went off without a hitch, except for a few injuries, and the game was fantastic. It was a contest full of the next young talent set to move up and become the next wave of NBA All-Stars from all parts of the world. Dunks dominated the day last year and this year there definetely be more of the same with this star-studded roster.
There are some strange things about these selections. First, Karl-Anthony Towns will be playing on Team USA but he’s a member of the Dominican National team in the Olympic games but he was born in the United States. Also, fan favorite Boban Marjanovic was left off the team along with other young stars like Julius Randle from the Los Angeles Lakers, Justise Winslow of the Miami Heat or Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns.
You can purchase tickets for the event which of course takes place during 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto, here.
