Warner Bros. Pictures’ Barbie is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the summer. Directed by Greta Gerwig of Little Women, the star-studded picture will feature Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey and Michael Cera among others. Today, the world also learned that producer Mark Ronson has enlisted a collection of chart-topping musicians to lead the film’s soundtrack. Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Khalid, Karol G, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Tame Impala and Kali are just a few of the artists contributing the film’s soundtrack. Like the film, the soundtrack is set to hit streaming services on July 21, 2023.
Barbie is the latest film of the last few months to get a major soundtrack treatment. Last fall, Marvel recruited Rihanna, Burna Boy and Tems for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. A few months later, Michael B. Jordan’s Creed III was backed by a Dreamville-curated set of tracks. More recently, Halle Bailey spearheaded The Little Mermaid soundtrack while Universal brought out its biggest stars for the Fast X soundtrack.
