Reports suggest that Barack Obama’s high school basketball jersey could earn him upwards of $200,000 at an upcoming auction.
The former President’s Punahou High School jersey from 1979 is being auctioned off alongside items from sports stars like Michael Jordan, Colin Kaepernick and Kobe Bryant. The “Icons and Idols” is being led by Julien’s Auctions in California on December 4, 2020. Julien’s Auction is expecting the jersey to earn between $150,000 and $200,000.
“The Obamas’ personal items … don’t come up very often,” Julien’s Auction Gallery Director Kody Frederick said.
“But every now and again some things fall through the cracks.”
Not long after the former President’s jersey is auctioned off, a dress worn by his wife, Michelle Obama, at a 2010 fundraiser will be auctioned off. The event is also being led by Julien’s Auction. The dress is expected to net between $50,000 and $70,000.
The former President and former First Lady have not yet commented on the matter.
