The President of the United States of America Barack Obama is clearly a basketball fan, popular culture has covered it many times. The Cleveland Show, that video where he plays air basketball and celebrates, he’s a baller. He’s been to Bulls games, he’s a Bulls fan.
In a recent Q&A with Bill Simmons (on GQ for some odd reason), Obama said that he has thought about owning a team and how fun it would be.
Would you ever want to be part of the ownership for an NBA team?
Absolutely.
Would it have to be the Bulls, or would it have to be somebody else?
Well, you know, I know [Jerry] Reinsdorf pretty good—he’s not giving that thing up anytime soon. But I have fantasized about being able to put together a team and how much fun that would be. I think it’d be terrific.
I think owning an NBA team would have a tad less pressure than being president of a country so I think that Obama would do OK being an owner. I mean Barack, bro, you’re the president, if you want a free season ticket other Bulls games just tell them. I think they’ll oblige. No need to own the team and try to handle a team.
