At just 19-years-old, Bankrol Hayden has emerged as one of the fastest rising artists coming out of California. Raised in Modesto, the teenager has cemented himself among the new class of artists with records like “Rich B*tch” and “Costa Rica” with The Kid Laroi. In June, he took the next step by releasing his debut album, Pain Is Temporary. With contributions from Polo G, Luh Kel and The Kid Laori, the project introduced him to a larger audience. Now, he’s celebrating the release of his first major milestone with a new video for “Drop A Tear” with Lil’ Baby.
Throughout the video, Bankrol Hayden and Lil’ Baby find themselves in a church as they reflect on the difficult times that they endured on their route to success. The Modesto native then travels out to a cemetery to reflect on the friends he has lost en route to his debut album.
“In the hospital bed, I was poppin’ them pills, yeah, yeah/Me and you ain’t close, as we just used to be/Used to be/People hit me up, but I ain’t used to it/Family askin’ favors ’cause I got some money now/When I get that money all these bitches actin’ funny now,” the California artist raps.
“Comin’ up, my life was hard/Fat Daddy died, we was still in the car/He did three to five, now he doin’ time again/I can’t lose, naw, someone gotta win/I love my dawgs, I ain’t got a friend/Woo ’bout to touch down, he just did ten,” the Atlanta superstar adds.
