Bandcamp has announced that they will be donating 100% of their sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on June 19, 2020. In addition, the company will donate $30,000 per year to social justice organizations. Not to mention, Bandcamp waived a share of its sales on Friday to support social justice organizations.
“The recent killings of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Sean Reed, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the ongoing state-sanctioned violence against black people in the U.S. and around the world are horrific tragedies,” Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond stated.
We're waiving our share of sales this Friday, June 5th, from midnight to midnight PDT. Here’s a list of artists and labels with special releases, including many donating to organizations in support of racial justice and change. https://t.co/G5W0kdakHz

“We stand with those rightfully demanding justice, equality, and change, and people of color everywhere who live with racism every single day, including many of our fellow employees and artists and fans in the Bandcamp community,” Diamond continued.
June 19, 2020 is better known as Juneteenth. The holiday is celebrated as the day that Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation to enslaved people in Texas, the last state to do so. Given the events of the last two weeks, the holiday will have a special significance this year.
