The Baltimore Ravens have made franchise history after hiring Mike Macdonald to be their new Defensive Coordinator. At 34 years old he will be the youngest person to serve as the Ravens defensive coordinator in their franchise history. He is also currently the youngest defensive coordinator in the league at the moment. The Harbaugh brothers seem fairly attached to him as he worked for Baltimore before going to the Michigan Wolverines to serve as their defensive coordinator.
We have hired Mike Macdonald as our defensive coordinator.

Jim Harbaugh said last year that former Ravens LB coach Mike Macdonald “probably” would have been Martindale’s eventual successor.
Michigan just finished eighth nationally in defensive FPI under Macdonald. Definitely one to watch. https://t.co/h65Wsgo9g1

Baltimore has prided itself as a defensive powerhouse in the league for much of the franchise’s history as a team. That being said last year was a borderline disaster for a franchise that had Super Bowl aspirations. Injuries on the offense helped end the team’s chances at the playoffs, but the injuries on the defense were just as bad if not worse. It cost the Ravens a shot at the playoffs as well.
“Can you imagine the conversation when John called Jim? ‘Sooooo, I’m gonna need him back now.'”?
Mike Macdonald is cast for a Harbaugh sequel ?https://t.co/JmEa2t45Pt

The Michigan Wolverines had a great defense last year under the leadership of Mike Macdonald. Baltimore could use a change of pace after this season’s breakdown at the end of the season. Harbaugh and the Ravens still have some things to work out on both sides of the ball, but locking in a defensive coordinator is a great start to the offseason.
