When Joey Bada$$ released “The Ruler’s Back,” on New Year’s Day, who knew it would turn into what it has become?
Just a few months after jabbing at Joey Bada$$ at the end of the “Whatx2?” video, Az Chike has released a full track aimed at the Brooklyn representative.
“Gave you a lil’ snippet, you ain’t even worth a song/Shout to opium, I’ll destroy you on my lone/How you a pro from your era, still ain’t make a hit song/N—a stick to the script, should’ve stayed in your zone/Heard that game time bore ’em, now a n—a on your dome,” he raps.
Not only did the “best feature on GNX” take aim at Joey Bada$$, but he also took a few shots at Pro Era.
“Everybody from TDE got put on/You the only one out your group that still make songs/F—k that bulls—t you wrote for Post Malone,” he continues. “And barely that, it won’t work and start to act. This n—a think he can take a break and come back/Ha, f—k is up with that?”
Az Chike closes the Jewel-assisted track by insinuating Power chief Curist “50 Cent” Jackson is empowering Joey Bada$$ to take aim at the West Coast much like the Queens native did at the entire music industry in the early 2000s.
“Better go report back to 50, he the boss to you/Purposely get you possessed and put a cross to you,” he raps.
“What Would You Do?” is the latest in a long line of tracks released by New York and Los Angeles-based artists over the last five months, including “The Ruler’s Back” by Joey Bada$$, “H—e Era” by Ray Vaughn, and most recently, “WRD2MIMVA” by Daylyt. More importantly, it doesn’t appear that this back-and-forth is ending anytime soon.
