Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars as they bolster their passing attack now that Allen Robinson’s tenure in a Jaguars uniform has officially ended (he signed with the Bears). The deal for Seferian-Jenkins is potentially worth up to $11 million over two years and includes $4.5 million in guaranteed money, per Jordan Schultz of Yahoo.

Seferian-Jenkins was a pretty highly-touted prospect coming out of Washington in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 38th pick in the second round. His time in Tampa was met with a combination of injury, underachievement, and off-the-field entanglements. A drunk driving incident ultimately led to his release from the Bucs during the 2016 season. He was then picked up by the New York Jets, where he’s spent the last season and a half.
In total, Seferian-Jenkins has appeared in 38 NFL games and has grabbed 105 catches on 171 targets for a total of 1,070 receiving yards and ten touchdowns.
He’s an imposing target, standing 6’5″ and 260 pounds. Plus, he’s still just 25-years-old, so it’s no wonder NFL teams would still be drooling over the possibilities of him lining up in their uniform. Now the Jaguars get to be that team.
Last season was Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ most productive season by a pretty wide margin. He racked up 50 catches (on 74 targets) for 357 yards and three touchdowns. Jacksonville will hope he can build off of that momentum and become of the league’s premier young tight ends.
