Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers will miss the Clippers’ four remaining regular-season games after straining his hamstring, head coach Doc Rivers tells ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz:
The Clippers expect guard Austin Rivers to miss the remainder of the regular season with a left hamstring strain, coach Doc Rivers said Saturday.
“I think it’s a little more serious [than initially believed],” Doc Rivers said before the Clippers’ 115-104 win against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Clippers coach added that the team was uncertain whether Rivers would be out of action for a portion of the postseason.
“We don’t know,” Doc Rivers said. “I would say it’s 50-50.”
Rivers suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Clippers’ game vs. the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. The Clippers won the game 133-124.
Rivers, who signed a three-year, $35 million contract with the Clippers last summer, is enjoying the finest year of his professional career. He’s putting up career-high numbers across the board, in minutes per game (27.8), points per game (12), assists per game (2.8), rebounds per game (2.2), field goal percentage (44.2) and three-point shooting percentage (37.1).
