Last night in the Los Angeles Clippers win over the Sacramento Kings, LA guard Austin Rivers got a little upset. During the game, Rivers went to the bench and flung the seat cushion for no reason what so ever besides the fact that he was mad and it struck a fan.
It now appears that the NBA will be investigating the Austin’s actions during the game.
Following from Sam Amick of USA Today.
The NBA is investigating an incident on Wednesday night in which Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers threw a seat cushion that flew into the stands and hit a fan at Sleep Train Arena in the fourth quarter of a game against the Sacramento Kings, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
It appears likely that Rivers will be disciplined as a result, though a final decision has not yet been made. The 23-year-old Rivers is the son of Clippers coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers. He had three points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 16 minutes during the Clippers’ 111-104 season-opening win.
This isn’t the first time a member of the Clippers had a seat cushion go into the stands. Last season, Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis kicked a seat cushion. Luckily no one was hurt and the fan caught the cushion but Davis was still fined by the NBA.
UPDATE:
The NBA has officially fined Austin Rivers for striking a fan with a seat cushion. Following from Yahoo! Sports Marc J. Spears.
