Austin Rivers has been the subject of controversy ever since he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. The son of LAC coach and general manager Doc Rivers, the point guard has had claims of nepotism follow him during this last two and a half seasons.
Meanwhile, Rivers has become a more-than-capable backup point guard and one of the more valuable pieces for a Clippers team that has not had enough depth over the past few years.
It’s no wonder then that Rivers takes it personally when someone attributes his success to playing for his father. That’s exactly what he showed by going on Fox’s “Undisputed.” Asked about certain comments from former teammate Glen Davis matching his public perception, Rivers had this to say:
“That’s just a bunch of BS. That’s just Baby talking. I’ve heard Baby say to me multiple times ‘Oh you know why Doc is so good, Doc is so great?’ multiple times and now he’s saying bad things about him. It’s a huge contradiction. And I don’t have a problem with Baby – me and Baby have always been cool. It makes no sense what he’s saying. […] Let me ask you something: if someone is constantly out of shape, late, don’t remember plays, how the hell is he supposed to play? I don’t know where that even goes with the team. And that has nothing to do with him coming for my father; I really don’t care. That’s between him and my pops. But as far as him being…that has never had a play on the team. I’ve earned every stripe I’ve ever gotten.”
Pretty hefty stuff from Rivers in firing back at Davis. Big Baby’s weight was certainly an issue during his entire playing career and even more so with the Clippers. However, he was not aided by the Clippers’ training staff and their diagnosis of his injuries.
After Rivers’ stint on TV, Big Baby took to Instagram to give his thoughts, while tagging Austin, his father, Undisputed, and TMZ for some reason:

The most Clippers beef imaginable.
