Austin Rivers explained that he has ‘no problems’ with Chris Paul after joining the Houston Rockets this past Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen.
Rivers joined the team after being released by the Phoenix Suns who acquired the guard in a trade with the Washington Wizards. Rockets GM Daryl Morey picked up Rivers after Paul’s recent hamstring strain that is expected to sideline him for 2-4 weeks.
When asked about playing with Paul after last years altercation involving ‘secret tunnels‘ Rivers said:
“I have no problems with Chris, as you guys will see,” Rivers said. “Obviously, if I had a problem with Chris I wouldn’t be here. Chris has a huge input on this team as he should. He’s a Hall of Fame point guard. If that was that serious, I wouldn’t be here. That will show you that’s not real.
Rivers also said that if the Rockets ever play in Los Angeles, he and Paul ‘know all the tunnels.’
“For better or worse, right?” Rivers said of his history against the Rockets. “If we ever play in L.A., me and CP (Chris Paul) know all the tunnels. We’ll be all right there. It’s funny. This is a team I always admired and wanted to play for with (Mike) D’Antoni and the way they play, getting up and down. It’s a very fitting place.”
This season Rivers is averaging 7.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists, shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from the 3-point line.
