Tiago Splitter wasn’t bad in San Antonio, sure he was awkward when he first came in but, as always, the Spurs system hooked him up and his play grew substantially.
But with the arrival of LaMarcus Aldridge looming, there was no place for Splitter in the starting 5, so the Spurs traded him to the Atlanta Hawks. But considering that Mike Budenzolzer has the Spurs system on lock, it won’t take long for Tiago to settle in.
And even though he was shipped off, Splitter still has the Spurs As favourites to win it all.
“It’s a great squad,” Splitter told Basketball Insiders of his old unit in San Antonio. “On paper they are the favorites to win the title. They have David West. They have LaMarcus Aldridge. Of course, Tim [Duncan]. Just a great frontcourt over there. They are a very talented team. Of course you have to see how things work out for them on the practical side of the game, but on the interior they have a great team.”
Once a Spur, always a Spur I guess.
Now I hate the Spurs, but I’m not stupid, they’re legit. I don’t have them taking it all, but they’ll definitely do better than the season that just passed (I really enjoyed that game 7 though, way better than the Mayweather/Pacquiao snoozefest) and as for Splitter, he’ll do just fine in ATL. Expect nothing different from him.
