The Atlanta Hawks are full steam ahead. 19 game win streak? Check. Beat the Golden State Warriors? Check. Seriously what more do the Atlanta Hawks need?
They’re clearly the best team. In the NBA right now. They’re relatively unstoppable. So why is the Atlanta Journal Constitution reporting that the Hawks are interested in Ray Allen?
The Hawks have had discussions with representatives for free agent Ray Allen but nothing is imminent, according to a person familiar with the discussions.
Allen has not played since finishing last season with the Heat. He has reportedly received interest from several teams.
The Hawks may be reluctant to disrupt the chemistry of a team that holds the best record in the NBA. However, the team lost guard/forward Thabo Sefolosha for six to eight weeks with a right calf strain.
So they’re looking for a short term replacement for Sefolosha? Right. Are you sure Allen is the guy for you?
I mean yes Ray Allen can still get it done. But there’s no point showing interest unless you have a permanent spot for him. And it’s like I’ve been saying all season when it comes to Ray Allen. Everybody has interest in him. It’s whether Ray Allen wants to play or not.
The fact that the Hawks are number 1 in the league is the only reason this is a story.
