With the Atlanta Hawks proving to be a half decent side minus their talisman Al Horford, they have a chance to build upon a good regular season and a promising Playoff run.
Now, according to USA Today the Hawks are making an early push for Luol Deng…
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Deng was expected to speak with Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer about the possible partnership on Thursday night.
Deng won’t make any type of decision though. Not until the “MeloDrama” concludes.
Still, Deng — who is seeking a salary of about $12 million annually — will have a long list of suitors and likely won’t make a decision until fellow small forward Carmelo Anthony makes his.
Until that happens. I still won’t put it past Deng to at least consider ATL.
Their recent agreement with former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Thabo Sefolosha on a four-year, $12 million deal appears to have helped their efforts to land Deng. The two players were together with the Chicago Bulls from 2006 to 2009 and had a very good relationship. The same goes for Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver, who was with Deng in Chicago from 2010 to 2012.
Friends in other franchises really helps. The immediate chemistry makes settling in just that little bit easier. It’s why you can’t put off Melo going to the Lakers. We all know that Anthony and Kobe are boys. Maybe that’ll be the X factor
